SpongeBoost’s second comic book, “New directions: Guided by nature”, can now be accessed in nine different languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Bulgarian, Czech, Estonian, Dutch, and Portuguese) on the project website and on Zenodo.

The comic book synthesises information for policy-making, practical restoration, and land-use planning, while showcasing successful examples of sponge restoration and its multiple benefits. Creatively illustrated by Melissa Harms and Nele Schacht from parzelle34, the story follows Spongy, a SpongeBoost original character, in his efforts to provide restoration tips and useful practices via dialogue and storytelling.

The story began back in 2025, when SpongeBoost published its first volume of the comic book, and is set to continue next year with the third and final volume.
